Tasmanian Oak Raw Timber Flooring

A simple guide to tasmanian oak timber flooring

Tasmanian Oak is not a species in itself, the timber is made up of 3 species of Eucalypt from Tasmania, blended together. The resulting colour varies from pale cream to pale pink with a grain that is extremely straight and even. Tasmanian Oak is a fairly soft wood measuring from 4.1 to 7.1 on the Janka scale. The timber can be made more resistant to wear by the use of a water based (acrylic) coating such as ‘Traffic’ , which is slightly more expensive than a solvent polyurethane based coating but it increases the hardness.

In our Hutton Street showroom in Osborne Park we have a large floor display of classic grade Tasmanian Oak in wideboard plus 2 shelf mounted board displays.
